Notes:

“Green” integrates with a virtual building in the same way that everything that describes a building should integrate with everything else. Being “green” does not excuse a building from the laws of construction or the marketplace. Is the building buildable? Is it affordable? Functional? Appropriate? Attractive to its constituents? Whether the building is green or any other color, these same questions apply.
Green is a long and evolving list of principles and features. It does not look like anything in particular, so it had better look at least as good as non-green architecture or it will not be sustainable. If green features do not necessarily carry a particular aesthetic, however, they also cannot be excluded from a design simply because of their visual impact. It is the architect's responsibility to integrate green just as he or she has always integrated structure, waterproofing, circulation or any other group of features that are now taken for granted.
If there is no reason that “green” should not be incorporated our buildings, then there is no reason that it should be excluded form our design practice as well.
