With its folded metal roof recalling glistening waves, Water-5 offers three bedrooms upstairs and an office/guest room down in a relatively traditional arrangement. As in all houses, the entrance is through a tempering airlock, but here it is placed in the center of the house below a large window that illuminates and upper hall/play space. The effect is a two storey entry without an energy wasting double height volume. To protect visitors and soften the façade, a trellis above the garage door conceals a flat translucent roof. Horizontal, narrow wood siding and a material change between the lower and upper floors reinforce the horizontal lines of Water-5. The play of light on the corrugated metal siding used on the upper floor is also intended as a reference to water. |
